La saga des BD-5J

CARMA VT-1 WEEJET
Conçu comme un avion d'école biplace cote à cote à réaction, le Weejet concourait dans la même catégorie que de TEMCO TT1.
Cet avion, construit à Torence (Californie), sous la dénomination Carma VT1-Weejet, était propulsé par un Continental J69-T-9 (Marbore II) d'environ 420 Kilo de poussée.
Le VT-1 a effectué son premier vol en mars 1956. Le prototype a été détruit quelques mois plus tard durant un vol d'essai.

The Weejet had a maximum speed at 334 mph at 15,000 ft., cruised at 208 mph. at 25,000 ft., and had an initial climb of rate of 2200 ft/min.
Empty and maximum loaded weight were 2481 lb. and 4541 lb respectively.
Further WeeJets, with minor changes to meet US NAVY suggestion (as illustrated by the right three-view drawing), were expected to be built in 1957, but it didn't happen.
