M&D Flugzeugbau TJ-42

Since April 2008 M&D Flugzeugbau is an EASA-certified development company of gas turbines to be used in gliders or motorgliders.
Wordl-wide a number of projects are currently investigating the use of gas turbines for glider propulsion. Powerplants used in those projects typically stem from model aircraft and suffer from lack of power and are not EASA certified. To licence one of the model aircraft engine manufacturers to EASA standards did seem too complicated - as a consequence they have decided to push this project forward on their own.

The engine prototype they developed was designed according to EASA standards and the prototype is currently undergoing tests in their on-site test facility. The EASA approval is expected shortly.

The integration of the engine into an LS4 with supplemental type certificate, an Jonker Sailplane TS1-TJ are in advanced stages.
