After World War II, Yugoslavia has undertaken the design and the construction of his own military aircraft. Many interesting prototypes were built at Zemun, near Belgrade, which was the principal factory of IKARUS. IKARUS was borne by the first aircraft manufacturing company to be formed in Yugoslavia in 1923. Three prototypes built by IKARUS were jet-propelled by Turbomeca Palas turbojet-engine. They where designed by Major Dragojlub Beslin and engineers Levacic and Kostic : the type 451-M, wich was Yugoslavia' first jet-propelled aircraft, the type S-451-M trainer developpement, and the 452-M experimental jet aircraft of novel construction. |
